Ray wins the Gold at the California Art Club's 101st Annual Juried Exhibition!
I am so proud of my husband, Ray Roberts. He knocked himself out on this painting and it won the honor of the Gold Medal. I wasn't able to be there at the event but our daughter, Alexandra, was there and got to join in the festivities. She had a blast and said she met so many great people! Ray was thrilled and is honored to be a member of the California Art Club.
From the Kiln!
I have been taking a ceramics class again this semester at our local junior college. I love the process of working with slabs. More organic feeling. It's always a surprise when they come out of the kiln. I am still getting to know some of the glazes. I like the low fire colors to choose from. Still incorporating the figure which I love so much to draw.

Value/Color System Forms
Ray and I are working madly on this and we are a little behind! I stopped to take some pictures of the production line and thought they made some nice images.
Inspiration.
I've been working on a series of ceramic containers with figures attached to the surface. I found this amazing painting hanging in the Saks Fifth Ave. Shoe Dept. in NYC and I am going to let it inspire me for new pieces. I love this painting and don't know the artist.

Past illustration life!
I used to be an illustrator. I had some great reps in L.A. and New York. Did a lot of editorial for magazines. Before I stepped into the freelance world I worked for Doyle Dane Bernbach as their only staff storyboard and comp artist for about 8 Art Directors. I drew everything you can imagine! Hands down was the best staff position I've ever held! They treated me like a queen. Stayed for 4 years and then went freelance.
