Wine and Bottle Toppers!

These are off to their first firing.  Can't wait to get them back and glaze them.  I am making set of wine and bottle toppers for open bottles.  I will post pics of them when finished!

Still showing up for work despite our plane accident!

I decided to just work with my black gouache and paper and play.  I just keep rearranging objects to mix up the shapes and pattern and see where it takes me.  Don't feel like thinking about much more than that.  Important to at least show up for the job.

Still recovering from emergency landing in a rough field and going stir crazy!  Can't stand too much.  Icing back and side still.  So to keep working this is where I set up so I could just sit, paint, enjoy the outdoors and feel like I am getting something accomplished.

Here's something from the past!

As many of you know I used to be an illustrator.  I painted and drew everything you can imagine.  UHaul hired 3 artists to do ALL those graphics for the sides of their trucks.  I was one of them!  I happened to see this one while we were in Paso Robles so I took a quick snap and now you know!  I can't even remember how many I did!  Was very steady work.  Really nice Art Director to work for. (Gary)  Paid the bills!

Yesterday I redeemed my gift certificate for a flying lesson.  I had gotten my pilot's license 38 years ago and wanted to become current.  Well, we had an engine failure, the instructor got us down safely and we were able to walk away from the site.  I did sprain my back muscles.

My wall at the Fine Art Collaborative Event in Costa Mesa, CA.  I am known as a painter but I have been delving into ceramics and they allowed me to display them.  This event was held at the beautiful space of Randy Higbee's who is a framer, host superb, purveyor of wonderful collections of art, furniture, flora and fauna.  The directors and creators of the event, Tom Balderas (who is an amazing painter!) and Matt Carrillo put together an amazing event of lectures by Dan McCaw and John Asaro as well as organizing workshops with some top artists and to top it off a gala of beautiful work by artists from all over.

I'm back.

Well,  we've been super busy!  I have taught in Tucson, AZ.  .  .  Emerald Isle, NC.  .  .  Raleigh, NC. .  .  Atlanta, GA.  .  . Santa Barbara, CA  and next stop Paso Robles, CA.  When on the road I love my iPad!  I got the app "Brushes" and it is amazing.  I sketch on it all the time.  I figure out compositions or just play.  By the way, my iPad was a Christmas present from our son, Rex. In fact he got each one of us an iPad.  That's 5 iPads!!  The top sketch I did in Morehead City, NC while sitting in my car eating lunch.  This was the view from the parking lot.  The middle sketch was while Ray was driving. I did sketches of the various cars in front of us!  That and played solitaire.  Bottom sketches are "Memory sketches."  I sketch in the evening from memory, what we did paintings of in the workshop.
